I am looking into upgrading from a normal cell phone to the blackberry bold 9700.
The 3 yr deal is very good it seems 150 ish compared to buying outright for 599.99
just wondering what other people thoughts were on the contract thing. Is it really worth being tied down for three years to save a buck.
keep in mind I have been with my service provider since I have owned a cell phone so... Any input is very helpful thanks.
Larry

I am pretty sure he means $150 just for the phone.

I hope so heh..

I dont mind 3 year contracts ive been doing them for a while... makes the phone cheaper and "worth it" then. But ill warn you now if you dont like the data package and want to go back to a normal phone plan. Most of the carriers will charge you to remove the data package off your bill..

Isn't there typically a upgrade/replacement plan when you signup?

I had my last cell phone for 5 or 6 years, and my current one going on 2 years. I plan to keep it for a while. I'm not a big cell phone user though, and I don't care about getting the 'newest in cell phone technology'. If you are like me, then you should be fine with a contract.

Nice, I almost got one too but just too much for me to buy just the phone because Rogers doesn't carry that... Seems like a nice smart phone...
Will have to check out yours next time...

mine is holding up great so far. Been dropped and kicked. :) business wise it is great. Opens pdf files and docs. some homebrew apps are appearing, So it should only get better. I would not have bought it new. I was going to go crackberry but just got to good of deal from a lady that did not need it.
